Who named the colors? And I don’t mean crayola ‘tickle-me-pink’ shit. Or even ‘green-yellow’ and ‘yellow-green.’ I mean like red, blue, and yellow. In the case of orange, what came first - the color or the fruit? And as for colors like periwinkle … well … where the fuck did that come from in general?

the use of the word “orange” to identify the tree and the fruit dates back to about 1300, but the first recorded use of the word as a color wasn’t until 1542.
